Apply for permission to keep a pet
Are you a resident of Spitalfields Housing Association (SHA) wishing to bring a new pet into your home? Find out everything you need to know about our guidelines and how to submit your pet approval request.
At Spitalfields Housing Association (SHA), we understand that animals can provide wonderful companionship and enjoyment. However, to ensure the comfort, wellbeing, and safety of all our residents, you must request formal approval before bringing a pet into your property.
What is considered a pet?
We define a pet as any animal kept primarily for companionship or enjoyment, rather than for work or food. If you are planning to keep tiny pets, such as goldfish, these are typically permitted without needing formal approval, provided they are entirely harmless and do not pose any risk to people or the property. For larger animals, or animals that roam, you will need to complete the request form below.
Please read the SHA Pets Policy
Before proceeding with your application, it is essential that you read our official guidelines. Your application must be read alongside the SHA Pets Policy, which outlines the rules and responsibilities associated with keeping an animal in an SHA home.
You can view and download the policy on our website here: SHA Policies and Procedures.
What happens after I apply?
Once you have submitted your application using the form below, our team will carefully review your request. Please allow 10 working days for us to process your details and respond with a decision.
If you have any questions about the form, or if you need to discuss your circumstances before applying, please do not hesitate to contact an SHA officer at admin@spitalfieldsha.co.uk.
