Our Ramadan Lights creative session was a resounding success, led by storyteller Rez storyteller and Delara, a youth arts facilitator. Designed to foster intergenerational dialogue, the creative session brought together children aged 5–10 and their guardians. Participants ‘broke the ice’ with group warm-up activities, and by decorating moons and stars.

The lantern-making workshop was facilitated by the centre’s volunteers, while Rez the storyteller captivated the audience with stories highlighting the significance of light across various cultural and religious traditions.

Guided by local creative leaders, the volunteer-driven session served as an introduction to Ramadan, marking the beginning of the fasting season for many families in our community. As this sacred time unfolds, we encourage our residents and local community to stay safe and maintain a healthy diet.

A heartfelt thank you to Tamarind Theatre Company for providing the resources, to the Hason Raja Centre and SHA’s volunteers programme for facilitating, to Tower Hamlets Parents Forum for their support, and finally the participants for taking part.
